For Patients: If an area of your mammogram requires further analysis, your physician may order additional diagnostic ultrasound. In some cases, a biopsy will also be prescribed, in order to rule out the possibility of breast disease. The biopsy procedure consists of inserting a small minimally invasive needle.

In some cases, navigating the biopsy probe through dense, fibrous, glandular breast tissue and into the lesion can be challenging. SenoRx developed the ultra sharp Tri-Concave™ trocar tip that significantly enhances targeting capability. The Tri-Concave tip is available for both the EnCor® and SenoCor 360® systems.

Sample quality is a key consideration in the selection of a biopsy device. A quality sample minimizes discordant findings by accurately and reliably differentiating between benign, atypical and malignant diagnoses. In the case of malignancy, the biopsy device should provide staging and prognostic information, facilitating earlier and more comprehensive treatment planning prior to surgery. Both the SenoCor 360 and EnCor vacuum-assisted biopsy systems are engineered to provide the highest possible sample quality.

With ever-increasing health care costs, compatibility with multiple imaging modalities (MRI, stereo and ultrasound) is now a basic requirement. To meet this need, SenoRx developed the first all-in-one vacuum-assisted biopsy platform for all three of these modalities.

The SenoRx biopsy platform is modular and will accommodate both the EnCor and the SenoCor 360 drivers. At the heart of the platform is a robust computer system that drives each of the advanced features and can accommodate new features by simply upgrading software.

  • Tri-Concave Tip facilitates superior penetration
  • Programmable pre-set sample selection patterns optimize sample quality
  • Precision auto sweep automatically samples and rotates biopsy probe to the next clock hour position
  • Programmable sample size for full or half samples, no need for separate probes
  • Programmable anesthetic placement mimimizes patient discomfort by allowing anesthetic to be precisely placed where tissue is being harvested
  • Programmable auto pause instantaneously stops the device if necessary – no need to wait for the sample to be completed
  • Programmable auto vacuum allows selection of the cavity to be vacuumed and the probe will automatically sweep the chosen pattern
  • Auto-rinse feature rinses the samples to visually confirm targeting is accurate
  • Closed system transports samples inside the breast into an outside collection tray facilitating easy clean up
  • Built-in-headlights illuminate the point of insertion without the need to turn on room lights
